Is your website geared towards Google Caffeine?

For sometime now, Google has been busy refining or re-doing parts of its search engine algorithm to counter the challenge posed by Bing. Added to Bing, Google also realizes that it needs to do more to serve quality content and outdo the sauve Internet Marketers. And as we see the talk of Google Caffeine coming over in a few, there is an all round excitement, especially in the community of professionals.

What is Google Caffeine and how can you make the most of it?

What was the need for Google to come up with Google Caffeine? I think the answer lies in the mess created by acai berry and viagra sites. Now these sites have become a focus of FTC, and probably someone in Google foresaw this trend. And hence Google decided on the project to clean its own search. And the best way to do that is to tweak the algo. Amongst the changes expected in the algo will be a change in the weightage given to on-page optimization factors for ranking a website.

The intent of Google Caffeine is to make the search cleaner, more relevant, faster and more friendly to the users. And in doing so, it will set to rest the spammers’ sites promoting products in not the 100% ethical means.

While nobody knows what will Caffeine bring, there are some rough assumptions that it will follow search ranking criteria that are closer to Bing, and evolve rankings by changing some of the criteria in the Algorithm. With more than 200 ranking criteria in the current algorithm, the ratio of on-page and offpage optimization seems to be headed over to some kind of a rejig.

For now, I am happy and feel that webmasters like me will gain whenever Caffeine gets integrated. The value of content should gain a lot of importance, and if the search becomes faster and more relevant we may end up laughing our way to the Bank.

With an impending Pubcon in November, Google Caffeine may be coming near to us. More near than we might have anticipated.

Let us hopw that Google Caffeine turns out to be leaner, meaner and stronger for a better search experience.
